Nermine Hammam
Artist Nermine Hammam is a Cairo‐based visual artist who creates images that are a blend of painting and photography techniques. Born in Cairo (1967), Nermine obtained her BFA in filmmaking from New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, going on to work with Simon & Goodman and renowned film director Youssef Chahine. She also served as production assistant in the movie Malcolm X. Whether photographing soldiers in Tahrir Square, veiled bathers on beach in Egypt, or female mental patients, crouched in the asylum courtyard, her images testify at once to the spirit of the times, and to the unchanging nature of humanity –
